The rods show the smallest to largest rod: smallest representing one and largest representing ten. They come in two colours, red and blue and ie. the number 2 rod painted red and blue and number 1 rod added together would be the same in size as the number 3 rod.
They teach the child dimensions by comparison and can be used to show addition in number work as well.
